In this session, participants will explore strategies for scaffolding spoken interactions with AI chatbots for Novice language learners. Grounded in AI-enhanced L2 research, the session demonstrates how structured, pair-based classroom interactions can gradually transition to more independent at-home use. Participants will also examine how activity design can foster reflection and AI literacy, an increasingly important role for language educators. Attendees will leave with practical scaffolding strategies and a customizable implementation timeline to support AI-mediated communication for their own learners.
