Special 50th Anniversary Roundtable: Linking Our Scholarship to Policy and Social Change

Fri, 5/30: 4:45 PM  - 6:30 PM
2952
Plenary Session
Friday Session 5
Hilton Minneapolis
Room: Conrad A
One of the original goals for the Law and Society Association was to enhance the link between social science research and public policy. In the 50 years since the founding of the Association, the commitment to achieve this goal has waxed and waned. Funding opportunities, university tenure standards, government priorities and research methodologies contributed to this fluctuation.
Where are we today? Participants will discuss projects that seek to link research with policy. They will describe their vision and analyze successes and difficulties. Does the Association assist in enabling researchers? Can it do more? What can we learn from past efforts?
