This session will tour gardens at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Ramler Park, and the J.P. Kelleher Rose Garden. All four gardens are located inside a four-block area, within easy walking range of each other, and they will present well in mid-November. They share a strong underlying physical structure, are designed as microclimates, and contain plantings selected for their year-round interest and visitor enjoyment.t.
1) Understand how interior landscapes enhance indoor air quality as well as the history and theory of museum horticulture exhibits.
2) Become familiar with the essential elements of Japanese garden design.
3) Learn what design elements are effective in attracting birds to urban open spaces, including the use of native plants.
4) See how roses can be adapted to an urban environment in a cold temperate climatic zone.
