He has spoken and led seminars for Consulting Engineers Council, the American Institute of Architects and The Professional Services Management Association. Mike has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a civil engineering degree from the University of Washington. He has worked as a consulting engineer and as the financial manager for an A/E firm.

As a member of the Seattle Planning Commission, she served as co-chair of the land use and transportation committee, with a focus on creating livable communities.
